The much extolled beauty of the Rhine becomes quickly evident on this trip along the river. Numerous castles line the Rhine Valley. Vineyards on steep slopes and picturesque villages invite you to wine tastings. Two of the most beautiful Rhine castles, rediscovered in the period of Rhine romanticism are Marksburg above Braubach near Koblenz and Stolzenfels Castle, which was erected by Karl-Friedrich Schinkel within the old Romanesque foundations of the former castle. We will pass original sites of German history such as the former imperial stronghold Burg Hammerstein, into which Henry IV fled from his son, with the crown insignia. Often there are tragic sagas surrounding the Rhine and its castles, above all that of the Lorelei. On this tour they come alive again. If you ask yourself like Heinrich Heine did, "I know not, what does it mean-- - then you will find some answers on this tour.
