With music from Monteverdi, Dufay and Merula to Byzantine composers, this concert programme spans a musical arc between the centres of political activity along what was once the most important trade route, linking Venice with Istanbul, Athens with Baghdad and Isfahan. Music connects people across borders and touches our hearts. This is exactly what the project "The Great Silk Road" is all about. It creates a dialogue between cultures and brings us into conversation, builds bridges and removes fear of contact
