"Sisterqueens" is more than just a film - it is a long-term musical documentary about strength, community and change. Over four years, director Clara Stella Hüneke follows Jamila, Rachel and Faseeha, three young Berlin feminists who use rap as their stage. From the girls' center in Berlin Wedding to the spotlights of big stages, the film tells of their mission to rap about topics such as self-determination, injustice and girl power. In doing so, they not only demonstrate for Black Lives Matter, but also live "sisterhood" - an impressive example of collective thinking and urban creativity. This courage to write a new narrative for feminism makes "Sisterqueens" unique. The Filmhaus Köln provides the ideal setting for this sincere and at the same time artistically sophisticated narrative, which will be shown there several times. A recommendation for anyone looking for an inspiring cinema experience outside the mainstream.
