The focus is on seven works by students and four new productions by graduates of the Academy of Media Arts Cologne (KHM). The most important competition sector presents current short films from Germany in five thematically arranged programmes that highlight cultural and social changes through digital influences as well as topics such as "isolation & dialogue". The country focus is on Poland, whose films refer to a historically rich film culture. A remarkable VR exhibition will once again bring international works to Cologne, which have already been positively received in Venice and Austin. Special attention will be paid to the KHM's graduation works, including the feature films "The Red Sea Makes Me Wanna Cry" and "Nuestra sombra", which premiered in Cannes. With a profound reflection on the private and political spheres of our time, the works deal intensively with questions of community and solidarity. Friday evening is dedicated to local productions under the title "Kölner Fenster", while an intergenerational film project promotes dialogue between young people and older residents, especially those with a history of migration. This symbiotic combination of art, social commitment and cultural responsibility makes the festival an important event in Cologne's cultural scene.
