Volksgarten garden is one of the most suitable locations to while a summer’s day away and barbecue. It’s heterogenous and lively flair is unique in Cologne: students and children scrimmage next to Bongo drummers and Frisbee players, and some always practice soccer. Behind high walls lies the old "Orangerie" with two attached glass houses. The building was given its name because frost-sensitive plants were stored there after the Second World War. Today, concerts, films and plays are performed in the Orangery with its unmistakable ambience.
