Tourist attractions – various
The steps of the Rheinboulevard, built in 2016, stretch between Hohenzollern Bridge and Deutzer Bridge. The steps lead elegantly down to the waters of the Rhine and invite you to linger, offering one of the most beautiful views of Cologne's old town, especially in the evening hours when the sun sets over the historic city centre of Cologne.
The 500-metre-long flight of steps is not only a beautiful area to linger or enjoy the view, it also connects the two central bridges for passers-by and thus enables a wonderful tour with shifting perspectives of the city. Evidence of the past is also embedded in the area of the flight of steps. In addition to the remains of the old Deutz-Gießen railway company, there are also significant finds from the Divitia fort. The excavations are part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Lower Germanic Limes and are thus part of Cologne's 2000-year history. The Rheinboulevard and the flight of steps thus not only act as a connecting element in terms of modern wayfinding, the architecture also links the past and history of the city with the present day.
