raum13 Deutz Central Plant of Fine Arts: A City of the Future
The former Deutz gas engine factory, once the birthplace of global motorisation in the 19th century, has been transformed into a place of cultural transformation and urban development by the raum13 project since 2011. Where mobility history was once written, a stage is now provided for discourse on climate change, democracy, migration and the transformation of urban life. raum13 transforms the industrial wasteland of a global corporation into a vibrant art and cultural centre with artistic depth and an interdisciplinary approach. As part of a political and social debate, raum13 combines past and future: the historical substance of the site becomes the starting point for a real laboratory in which new forms of living, learning and working are designed and tested.
In collaboration with experts in architecture, sociology and art, the Otto & amp; Langen Quarter is being developed and designed as a place for theatre, creativity and sustainable neighbourhood management. The raum13 Deutzer Zentralwerk der Schönen Künste impressively demonstrates how urban history can become the basis for new, socially relevant spaces - and how art can shape the architecture of a city of the future.
Regular events at raum13 invite you to actively participate in shaping the city of the future. In addition, art and cultural events take place there, offering space for creativity and exchange. Further information can be found on the homepage of raum13, the Deutz Centre for Fine Arts.
