“Alors on danse” – people have always danced. To worship, to communicate, to tell stories and to feel. The Dance Museum – the only one in Europe – explores this fascinating artform from its roots to the present day. Exhibits include dance shoes, costumes and photographs of celebrated stars, dance experiments, dance scandals and films. There is also plenty of opportunity for discussions, and you can join a guided tour. In its regularly changing exhibitions, which draw on its rich archive, the Dance Museum asks fundamental questions: “What do we see when we see dance – and why?” Or: “What shapes our image of dance?” Thus, visiting the museum is a great way of rediscovering the phenomenon of dance as a form of primal human expression.
